Madrid

Today was the first day waking up at the hotel after a very deep sleep. Breakfast is included and it was just perfect, thanks to Brad and his travel agent services.

The breakfast was a buffet In the atrium which included some hot items on order, trying to get my morning eggs in. Tomorrow I will be partaking in the made to order churros with chocolate sauce.

So far this hotel is amazing… great service, beautiful pool, good air conditioning. But I have two complaints… the toilet paper comes off the holder without fail… the little knob at the end is so small. Secondly the music goes raspy at the pool every few songs.

Escaping the heat (35°) by going to the THYSSEN-BORNEMISZA MUSEO NACIONAL. But first a recharge at the Starbucks across the street.

Walked around the El Mercado de San Miguel for a mid day snack. First time I have seen misters inside… not just at Vegas poolside.

Some culture! We went to an outdoor opera along with an orchestra. It was a lovely evening despite zero wind and 31° at 11pm. I was hoping for a cool breeze but we were in a courtyard of a massive building.

Well, we finally got our bags back tonight. We tracked them during the day and saw they were moving after they arrived in Madrid. They were halfway to the hotel, and then around 4:00, we saw that they were back at the airport. We called United and talked to customer service in North America, and we don't know if she did something, but they were delivered to the hotel tonight around 9pm. Now we can actually get into some fresh underwear and socks, and I can show up in a different shirt in future pictures. Sweating in our clothes has not been fun, but we made do.

I did buy a Uniqlo linen shirt yesterday, but when I went to put it on tonight for the concert, it had so many fold marks and our wrinkle release spray was in our luggage, so I had to go with the same T-shirt I was wearing for the last two days.
